This might give you some insight into the psychology of marketing and music:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...nd-the-shopper

Quote:
  1. humans have emotional reactions to music;
  2. different elements of music such as time, pitch, and texture can elicit different emotional responses (e.g. low pitches are associated with serious and sad emotions whereas high pitches are associated with humorous and happy emotions); and
  3. personal preference and familiarity with the music moderate the emotional experience
The thing is, some people don't have a clue as to what music will elicit certain responses and they just play what they like.

Do you think people like the music I’m describing?

That’s sad. And from me that’s saying something.

I don't get it. Spotify gives you the chance to hear a pile of artists you might not download/pay for. What's not to like?

Yeah but I never owned millions of songs with such ease of access. Downloading never even came close.

What I like about it, particularly for reviewing, is that you DON'T have to download albums you may only want to listen to once, and anyway, here in Ireland downloading/torrents has been severely limited in the last few years, so there's not really that many options.

Not unless a) you had an 8-track (which nobody does except Dude111)
b) you happen to be in school

Can't follow your reasoning, dude, not at all. I see Spotify screws up your anarchic vision of the world, but it works for the rest of us.
