Default MB Classics: The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace

Current album is The Fall's This Nation's Savings Grace

Your vote only counts if you say something about the album. It doesn't need to be a paragraph, just a couple sentences about the album.

Also, I'll ask mods to delete Votes this time. Just a couple of sentences, that's all. If you don't say anything but vote there will be no warning before the vote is deleted.

Well of course I'm going to vote on this. The Fall is one of the great noise rock bands and This Nation's Savings Grace is my favorite of the genre. If you gander over to YouTube check out their video for Cruiser's Creek (my favorite Fall track). It is wonderfully bizarre; MTV didn't know what it was missing.

it's still an unassailable classic

seeing as this is likely the only Fall album we'll see on this list I'm giving it a straight 10/10 because only when compared to other Fall albums is it not flawless

when I have more time I'll commit a write up on what makes this album primo punk/post punk
Here, I'll write it for you:

This album is Post Punk

I like Post Punk

10/10

Don't really get the hype around The Fall. Very inconsistent album; a few great tracks, a few lackluster, and a few in the middle. Not much to keep me consistently entertained, more of a choice cut kind of album. And it can't just be me who thinks most of these tracks overstay their welcome a bit. Anyway, it's good stuff generally, and for me that's worth 7/10. Nowhere near 10 though. Also is it just me or are people voting 10/10 and 1/10 just because they can. Rate fairly people. Not every album is going to be 10/10. The Fall is not even close to the best post-punk, and there's no 11/10. It just seems like people are compressing the scale around 10 and 1 and there are barely any ratings in between, especially on the last couple of albums.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

The Fall are so influential and prolific they seem more like a genre than a band. They have inspired incredible amounts of reverence since the late 70s. There’s all kinds of stuff in their huge discography but their go to signature move is a repetitive hook with a melodic baseline. All the best bands from the mid 80s to 2000 have a fair amount of Fall DNA. This is one record that’s heralded but it’s really the entire phenomenon that I find so amazing. I’m not trying to explain The Fall to those of you who are already fans. I’m just trying to put some perspective on this for anyone who might not know.
