Default Who Is Your Music "Hero"?

What single musician or artist do you consider to be the ultimate legend in or of his or her genre? This would include their talent, personality, charm, charisma, their business sense, and are they a good role model? Are they someone you would aspire to pattern your musical career after?

Who rocks your socks?

...Even I need to think on this one for a good answer

Reggae - Bob Marley pioneered you cant top that..

Rap - Jay Z. just huge career wise.. plus hes expanded into having some serious cred. even with rap sceptics like myself

Rock - U2 are unbelievably super-ginormous huge... and I love them.. They may have gone a little more pop in recent years.. but i mean they've had the most unbelievable career. Legends.

Punk - tough. NOFX, Bad Religion and Rancid have both had some pretty unbelievable careers.. but speaking purely from how *I* would model a career I'd pick the Bouncing Souls. some debate whether their *true* punk but you cant deny.. their great.

Hip-Hop - Heros of hip-hop have to be the fugees. honorable mention goes to OutKast

Dance/Electronic - Gigi D'Agostino is a Euro Legend.. but I'd model my career after Paul Oakenfold.. called the most popular Dj in the world, he is a electronica titan..

House - Three words... Bad Boy Bill

Pop - haha frankly none of em.. but since i have to pick one i'll throw in a woman.. Christina Aguilera has had an awesome career.. shes put up with alot of flak from critics and handled it all with skill. Plus some really good song writing. Go XTina.

Guns N' Roses- This was the band that got me into Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.
After seeing their videos and Slash playing guitar, I took guitar lessons.
This is the band that made me want to start a band. Axl is not my hero, Slash is my hero. Slash always seemed mellow and the type of guy, you could talk to on the street. Plus, I think he's one of the greatest guitarists of all time. They weren't good "role models", but I don't see rock stars as someone to look up to. Most of them are drug addicts/alcoholics. They definetly adopted that "rebellious" image that rock represents. If you're parents don't like your music, its cool.

Im gonna have to go Oldie and go more with either Eric Clapton or the Eagles.

Eric Clapton easily got out anything he was feeling and was able to make the listener feel it too.

Eagles were the best band to just sit around drinkin a beer and talk with your friends or anything like that.

Default cannot narrow it down

Only one, really?

The ultimate legend has to be John Lennon. So talented, so individual and so profound and a major influence and inspiration to me.

Then again, the people in music who first commanded my respect and admiration were 'local heroes' - ordinary folk hailing from the north of England like myself, who made it musically due to their immense talent and put the north on the map. Tim Booth (James) and Robbie Williams.

But I also think we are inspired by different people at different times and at the moment nobody inspires me more than Anthony Kiedis (Chilis).

Ha ha, did I dodge that question enough for you?
