I sorta agree with scott. Many people think that emo is an adjective whereelse it is actually a genre of music. Cause you're basically saying "Anything u think is emo is emo" Which in a way is like saying "anything u think is rap is rap". Like you can't say that elton john is so rap because he isn't. You can't say Taking back sunday is so emo because they aren't. Emo has a definite set of characteristics displayed by bands like he mentioned. You can't say emo is simply emotional because its like saying country music is simply singing.
I hope I didnt' get anyone lost here |

You are all stuck in the past....Im not speaking of what emo was pre-2000, but today. What millions of people look at as emo, and what many view as non-emo music. You all got me wrong, I am not saying that your past music is not emo, but I just want to know how TBS isnt labeled "present-day emo" I feel that it has not died out persay, but has just taken a different path in style.

What people think as emo? Thousands of people still think simple plan is emo. To me its like calling heavy metal classical music. Remember when punk started getting all introspective and emotional? We don't call it punk...we call it emo. We don't call it the Newer Punk Rock because it was different. Although, bands like DC, Brand, and TBS are wrongly classified as emo, they are not the New Emo. Just like Mineral, Cap'n Jazz were not the "newer punk" they were a different category.
So in short TBS is not present-day emo because it is entirely different. It is present day pop-rock. |

I am not saying it is present day emo. Just saying thats what everyone thinks is emo these days. I know what the true emo is...im not trying to attack you or anything. I am trying to enlighten everyone else.

After reading a couple old, old posts from Zealious, I've come to realize that Thrice and everyone else were serious *******s to Zealious and David Frost for trying to spread information about the correctly named emo genre.
I'm glad there's a general understanding now. |
