You cannot honestly compare Thursday and Thrice to Celine Dion!! are you insane? I understand what you mean by some emo becoming a little to washed up in commercialism (dashboard), but thursday and thrice are practically leading the genre!

who cares if these bands are mainstream?
has it not occured to u that maybe they are a little mainstream because they are good? emo is not about being underground, nor is it about being popular - it is all about the music - music that is emotionally driven. u cannot classify a band as emo or not based upon who their fans are or how popular they are.

Props to Anthm Dying Day (who first introduced me to the emo scene) u r freakin awesome eleni. neway, abakubub, rites of spring was one of the first, but if u really look at it, i think minor threat created the emo genre (even though back then, it was hardcore)
