What the heck is emo? (punk, rock, title, covers)

eek can I not read...well again you must be right...there's no way it says "emo forum" up the top...ok so you say that because you don't think the music we listen to is emo yes? well since no one agrees with you it's absolutely pointless you coming on here no? because no matter how hard you try to get your point across no one listens!!

Let's just say that if your bands actually were the best bands ever and David frost's band did suck it wouldn't matter. Either way YOUR bands are not emo, HIS bands are emo/emocore.

I liked Dashboard confessional's old music. However, unlike you I don't recklessly label him as emo.

So, in conclusion. Emo means one thing to one set of people, and one thing to another set of people, and absolutely nothing to me. I'd suggest closing the thread before it becomes a full scale argument, because I think as a discussion this is exhausted.

that is like saying death metal is one thing to one set of people and one set to another. Some people consider Cephallic Carnage Death Metal and others consider G unit as death metal.

so, in conclusion. Emo is Emo, not Pop Punk

Oh whatever...I said he had no life because I was clearly pissed off...ok so the bands he likes are emo...I'm not going to argue with his views but I don't like the nasty way he decudes to put his view across...like, saying it's all crap etc. I don't know anyone who likes being told the music which they like isn't very good...Sure if you were more diplomatic and didn't just say they were awful then I would listen toi what you have to say

Yes, but the difference is, I couldn't care less about throwing labels at bands. I find it a pointless waste of time and energy. If someone wants to call G Unit death metal, well, it's not going to kill me, same as if someone calls Avril Lavigne punk. It. Isn't. Life and Death.

Why do people slap labels on groups, and then groups get bashed for it, just because they have alot of money and are played on MTV and FUSE all the time. Not all good bands have to be underground bands that rarely get played on TV and are only known by fans. I'm not trying to say that some bands need to get out there and get rich and famous, but I also don't think that just because a group like GC has alot of money, you should bash on them and say "Their not punk, or their not whatever" If you don't like the band, why waste your breath talking(or typing) about them and making them your center of attention. I know I have been caught bashing on bands, but its not because they're "pop" or "not punk" It's because they really do suck! So in conclusion, **** labels, **** you, Eat me .:Nods:. well, its not that they are famous, its that they dont deserve it. they really arent punk, and even if they were.. they still just arent a good band at all.

besides, you didnt even change the subject, you just furthered it.. if you want to change it, bring up a different subject.
