They're original because they're a funk pop band, with strong jazz influences that gets their sound from a piano.

Well Please explain, how Maroon 5 is original doing it now, when the band Urban listed (Jamiroquai) has been doing it since the late 80s and it wasn't original then?

Okay then, I restate. "They are original. Yep and the only reason they're original is because of a piano. I think that says alot about their musical creativity."

Nothing, but I fail to see how a common instrumental like the piano can make you original.

You couldn't move in the 80s for funk / Jazz influenced pop.

Curiosity killed the cat , fine young cannibles ,Londonbeat , Blow Monkeys , Style Council , Jamiroquai ... and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head without even being a fan of them.
