i think Ween are an amazingly talented couple of songwriters, they always seem to have remained on the fringes though. i get the impression they could be a hit factory if they wanted to, and can seemingly pull off any style.
rather than do that though, they just seem to grind out albums full of short joke songs and experimental tidbits dotted with some of the best songs of the 90's. there's a sharp wit there which they occasionally ruin with scatological humour... i do like the voice manipulation that features heavily in their earlier stuff though, it's just abrasive. i always saw Ween as a bit like Matt Stone and Trey Parker if they had gone into music...? edit: plus the psychedelic element is always appreciated ![]()
