I just got done playing it (2 track 7"), 3rd time since the weekend. I find the first song, "Sherman", to be a little mediocre but I like the second one, "Three Strum Proggitt". Overall, it's Pinback by the numbers but there's nothing wrong with that. Both tracks kind of sound older than material from their last two albums. As if they were recorded during the first 2 album sessions. That's not a bad thing, they just sound more stripped down. I did like the production on Autumn of the Seraphs myself...so I'm happy with whatever direction they go on for album $5.

They just started a new tour but they are not coming here. All I got to see was Rob solo last year when they did the "Rob & Zach Show" - and Zach didn't make it because his wife went into labor.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I just downloaded Summer in Abaddon and the Offcell EP (their highest rated albums on pitchfork) on a whim yesterday and I cant stop listening to them. This stuff is absolutely GREAT! its been quite a while since I found a new indie/alternative/whateverthe****youwanttocallit band. Any other good albums? or should i just get everything?

Default Just found them.... its love

So glad there is a Pinback thread on here. I wanted to see how many other people have discovered the magical thing they do. It really is more than music... its good music for sure, but it creates a feeling that I can't really describe. Like you've just sighed and let go of all your tension... things are just gonna keep flowing. Doesn't matter if things are good or bad... you just know everything is alright. Thats what it does for me. And everything I listen to just gets better and better. Its making me feel better about sending a stupid email to a guy that I shouldn't have sent. That was dumb.

Top songs so far:

Rousseau
Clemenceau
Penelope
Sender
Anti- hu
Loro
Tripoli
Messenger (not the full band version)
Byzantine
Fortress
How We Breathe

Excited to know there is new album coming. I found them just in time.

When it comes to Pinback, there is no replacement. I really enjoy Systems Officer, they kinda have the same feel without the punch that Pinback has.

Systems Officer is ok, but my favorite vocals in Pinback come from Rob. I appreciate Zach's bass playing and backing vocals - they are of great importance to what makes up Pinback's style. But he can sometimes sound off-key. His range and presence are no match for Rob's, so on his own it's a bit lackluster.

Does anyone know any other groups like Pinback (if possible to say that) and systems officer? What genre would you exactly call Pinback?

They're just indie rock AFAIK, but I've yet to find another band that scratches my indie rock itch like they do.

Yeah they've got a pretty unique sound, but definitely classified as indie rock - no question. I think they are very comparable in mood to Built to Spill at times, though they are each very distinct from one another and everyone else.
