i went and saw them this saturday and ben gibbard lost like 400 pounds, grew out his hair, grew chops, and got contacts. wtf??

they were amazing live, but ben was a **** and they just played and tried to leave. the decemberists put on a better show, but death cab sounds almost precisely like on the new album.
well they did record the whole album live. which is probably why they sounded so close to it.

its the type of music that grows on you once you listen to it a few times. I couldn't stand them before but I love them now. I will possess your heart does have a long intro but once he starts singing its worth it.

I've been listening to their new album a lot lately, And I'm really impressed.
I did listen to it a couple of times when it released and forgot about it.(although i liked it a lot)
I'm goona as far as saying this is their best album!
I will posses your heart is definitely one of the highlights of the album...only one song at the end felt out of place imo.(forgot the name)

They were spectacular in concert. Thoroughly enjoyed the set, a must see if they venture anywhere near your town.

Death cab for cutie is clearly a mainstream band.

What's this in reference to?
If it's there placing in the Indie forum then there are a load of bands in the mainstream who can be called Indie.

I'm assuming he was simply attempting to get a rise out of someone. I would hardly say that they are "clearly" a mainstream band. They enjoyed some success and attention following Plans release but are still relatively unknown to most.

I think Ben Gibbard (lead singer/guitarist/lyricist of Death Cab For Cutie and the Postal Service) writes some of the most meaningful lyrics I've ever heard.
I really like Death Cab and also Gibbard's side project the Postal Service.

However, I Will Posess Your Heart from Narrow Stairs just makes me crazy. No song needs that much meaningless instrumental in the beginning.

hehe when I'm driving or not paying close attention I actually get quite into the long intro. but otherwise I skip ahead a ways.
