What do you do online and offline to push your music and yourself? What no and low cost methods and tricks have worked to share with your fellow indies and unsigned artists?

play shows. play as many shows as possible. thats what you have to do, if you are talking about your own music. and putting out splits with bands that are from different areas always helps out alot.

as far as not your own music, you could start a zine or even your own small distro. ive known kids that went from getting a few cds and selling them at shows to putting out full releases that were bought all over the country. it may not be low cost at first but it sure as hell is fun.

One other way to get your music promoted is to send your music to online radio stations such as Indie Electronica, Indie Band Radio, mine which is Indie Artist Radio and several others. One way to find some is to go to audiorealm.com and do asearch by Genre. I guess you can do Music Submit but that costs money, I personaly have not been impressed with some of their methods and values. What I can tell you is there is a great service called 3000records.com, I think it costs you about $35 but I am not sure. One of the best things I can tell you to do is get a copy of the Indie Bible, www.indiebible.com. The Indie Bible has listings of stations that will play your music. Sonicbids is also a great place to promote your music to music folks by dropping in the promoter drop boxes. Also you can post news about you or your band on Music Dish, www.musicdish.com for free in the Indie News Beat Section. A lot Industry Folks read it. Also join My Space, not as an individual but under the Music Catagory. Hope that helps you get started!

Sincerely,
James
