Default Aimee Mann

Amazing that she seems to be getting more press as she gets older, finally getting recognized for the the amazing artist she is. I don't think there is anyone contributing what she is right now. Too many artists seem to be deficient in too many areas and she is amazing at everything. Personally, I would say she is my favorite artist right now. I saw her in concert last month and plan on doing it again in December. For anyone who may have never heard of her (and should turn in their indie club card if this is the case ) here is her website.

I wrote a whole blog about how here music affects me over in the blog section. I would recommend her music to anyone. My little sister saw the concert with me having never heard her music and walked away being a fan.

I'm not sure I like her as much as you do, but Bachelor No. 2 is a stellar album and the Magnolia soundtrack is basically an excellent Aimee Mann album.

I only have a couple of her solo albums, which I quite enjoy. Honestly, my favorite work of hers was the second 'Til Tuesday album, mainly because of my love for the post production of Rhett Davies. His work on Roxy Music's AVALON is also great. But Aimee's solo work shows off the maturity of her songwriting, and the honesty of her work. She's definitely done well for herself...

Sure, I like Aimee Manm, but I'm not super crazy about her, like a lot of people. however, if you're one of those people that is super crazy about here, you should know that she frequents the Largo in Los Angeles. It's hard to explain, but this place is basically the best concert venue ever. It gets amazing acts, but only seats about 200 people. I just recently saw jon brion and flight of the conchords.

Haven't heard too much of her stuff, but I did think her songs from the Magnolia soundtrack were excellent.

What album would one start with if they wanted to check her out?

I'd say Bachelor No. 2. It's generally considered her best album, I think, and it showcases her abilities well.

I'd say that if you don't enjoy that album, you're probably not going to be an Aimee Mann fan.

Oh definitely. After that, I would say pick up I'm With Stupid and her new one @#%&*! Smilers (actual spelling).

And she plays a lot in Virginia as well (her original home) at a place called the Birchmere (sort of like Largo) where you can sit down and watch. I saw her in DC on this tour and I will probably see her again at the Birchmere when she has a few shows there in December and is likely to play some of her Christmas songs.
