Default Fado

well, since this type of music doesn't fit in any other forum, and i think i won't live to see the day a folk/world music forum is created, i'll post it here...
anyone like fado? ( for those of you that never heard about it, it's portugese music, extremely emotional and expressive )...i was watching Hable con ella ( talk to her ) by pedro almodovar the other day, and amalia rodrigues was playing in the background during the corida scene...it made the hairs on my neck stand up...so I started downloading mariza...man...when you play it super loud it destroys you...very intense...

well, since you're all bastards and nobody pays attention to what i'm saying i'm just going to talk to myself in this thread, it is mine after all...
well, today i jumped on a bus and went to a mariza concert in Zagreb ( i downloaded her album 2 days ago without knowing she was gonna perform in Zagreb ) and i just got back form it...it was an awesome concert, in a very cozy venue ( about 150-200 people ), she's a diva! and very funny too, it was sorta like a half concert half comedy routine...and when she did two of my favorite songs from the second album ( Cavaleiro monge and Primavera ) my heart almost burst from overwhelming emotions...i can't believe that MY favorite songs are her favorite songs too...ahh...a great experience and a great day....

you're being sarcastic aren't you?...well just in case you're not...the absolute legend of the genre is amalia rodrigues, the 2 new divas of the genre are Misia and Mariza...

hmmm...you surprise me...i thought you were a straight up rock/metal dude, and a bit too young to get into this type of music...when i was your age it was only green day, offspring, nirvana, the doors, stone temple pilots for me...

is the music in itself good or should we be able to understand the languages?

i don't understand portugese, so that should answer your question...this type of music isn't everyone's cup of tea, but if your music taste is diverse you should give it a try, just download Mariza - cavaleiro monge and see if you like it...
