Default Sam Cooke

We don't have a soul forum, but we now have a Sam Cooke thread, which is closer than we've ever been before.

I know there aren't many Soul fans out there, especially losers like right-track and Gentleman Johnny, but I figured everyone could learn to appreciate Sam Cooke, the hookers proclaimed godfather of soul.

Songs with hookers seal of approval:

(What A) Wonderful World (no, not the song you are thinking of)
Cupid
Chain Gang
You Send Me
She Was Only Sixteen
A Change Is Gonna Come

Please check.

Sam Cooke was a true Soul pioneer. Great choices Hookers, my favourite being 'A Change Is Gonna Come'. Perfectly describes the black civil rights movement at the time and the changes it aspired to.

I have a funny story about that song actually. It was played on repeat in this home-video documentary on Hurricane Katrina (almost to nausea). The person who made the video said it was one of her favorites performed by a group called "Rooster." I was really confused and was almost going to speak out and say "No that's Sam Cooke." I tried looking for info on Rooster, to see maybe if Sam was in a group with that name, or if they did a cover of the song... do you have any insight on this?

It's got me beat. Unless it's some kind of tribute outfit. Maybe a play on Little Red Rooster?
