Default RnB has been stolen!!!!

I just hate how crappy new poppy harmony bands are called RnB.
I thought this name was for BB King and Muddy Waters and actual Blues bands. Why don't they call it RnH for Rhythm & Harmony or they could just call it crap. Anyway it just drives me crazy.

^ This I can't believe. Two new members that know the real definition of R&B.

R&B was lost, not so much stolen. The crap that passes under the banner of Rhythm and Blues today is laughable.

Rhythm and Blues had it's origins in Blues music but also in funk, soul, jazz and not to mention pop music, which R&B always was. Personally I see the current direction of R&B to be as one would expect and it's not really a bad thing if you actually listen to certain artists.

I agree it's not all bad, some of the 'Modern Soul' holds the 60's tradition well.
Gnarls Barkley for example.
It's the warbling deva's that bug me.

Old was way better but i think you can take any genre and find good new stuff, to say it's all horrible is just wrong.

No. Though Rythmn and Blues is influenced heavily by blues, it wasnt blues. Jazz and Gospel were also huge influences and it became an amalgimation of the three. Son House, B.B King etc were 12 Bar Blues artists. they had no back beat unlike R'nB. Bands such as the Yrdbirds and Rolling Stones were thought of as early R'n'B with contemporary artist like Sly and the Family Stone creating a new contemporary form by bringing in a psychedelic influence. I think R'n'B acts today have just moved on with the times and technological developments. Every Genre evolves over time - this is no different. Just for the record, i hate new R'n'B... but then ive never been keen on old R'n'B either.
