"True" jazz fans stiffle intelligent conversation, forget about them. I think this topic at the very least sparks intresting conversation.

To those of you who felt the need to open-mindedly say "their not jazz", maybe next time try to make an argument a little better since its a little easier to side with "no".

Many bands incorperate Jazz elements but are not Jazz, and I still vaguely recall that STP are not one of them, but I could be wrong, maybe they did a fusion album no one knows about, lol.

The closest attempt they would have had is Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop which is hardly jazzy at all.

Although boo boo I would assume you would like it, because i think its supposed to be labeled as leaning more towards Psychedelic rock from around the 60's/70's error.

Edit: Not that its a good source but even wikipedia states that. And my guess it you have already heard the entire album anyways.

Wasn't Weiland's solo album jazz influenced? Or was it blues influenced? I haven't listened to it in a really long time.

I knw Weiland didn't mean or think the band was grunge or on the grunge bandwagon.

Critics: "The San Diego band has climbed onto the Seattle grunge bandwagon. Its slow songs, with heaving riffs and half-speed vocals, are second-rate Pearl Jam; for variety, there are some midtempo groans that imitate Nirvana."

Weiland: "It was really painful in the beginning because I just assumed that the critics would understand where we were coming from, that these just weren't dumb rock songs."

Well I wasn't saying you were wrong, to me its not really grunge And i think what the artist intended for it to be plays a large role in deciding.

Although if you think so that's your right!
