Louis Prima
How could you not dig Louis Prima...Such energy and charisma..Louis jitters and belts it out while Sam Butera wails on the sax and Keely Smith just looks bored as hell..great stuff...just a brilliant showman and musician
If I knew what the hell I was doing, I'd post a video from youtube, but if your interested, you can find several videos on youtube of awesome classic prima performances

His influence on Ennio Morricone for the 1997 Lolita soundtrack (the music totally saved this film) inspired me to buy The Wildest, which I found to be dynamic is an early jazz album. I haven't heard any of his work with Kenny Smith, though. I should probs look into him more.

There is an album called The Wildest Show at Tahoe that is an excellent live performance...It opens with a really cool scat number..I have it on vinyl but I think it's on CD as well

He is the best, check out the song there'll be no next time with Sam Butera singing and Louis adding his remarks. too funny. Keeley is great on everthing they do together, and his song for the Jungle Book was fantastic (Ooooh, I wanna be like youuuu).

Louis is tha king!! Not was he only a great performer, but also one of the best bandleaders IMO. His music is alwys right. Every little detail of the horns, the energetic bass, his lowdown voice...
What's there to say but repeating the first line in this thread: How could you not.....
