I agree with this part.

I made my Diamond Head thread only knowing a little. For the most part, I like to make my threads in a bid that I will learn a bit about them. So I'll mention a few songs I like, ask everyone if they've heard anything by them and maybe say who I think they sound like. Hopefully with the feedback I'll learn more about the band.

I'm not so fond of threads that just list a heap of songs. For me a distinguishing factor as to whether I'll try a new band is who that band is similar to.

For example, if someone said listen to these guys they sound like motorhead, I'd be in like a flash.

So if people don't tell me what the band is similar to, I could neglect and miss out on a very good band indeed!
