It's too commercialised and Americanised. I'd prefer my man to surprise me with flowers or chocolates and not feel obliged to do it on a particular day. (Especially when prices have been inflated!)

I live in Paris and I'd like to say that women shave, don't wear berets and I hate cheese. French guys are awful they should impale themselves.

I don't think they named it after a mafia massacre somehow. Its named after St. Valentine who was, (wait, google search...)

'Saint Valentine, according to romantic legend, was a kind-hearted Roman priest who married young couples against the wishes of Emperor Claudius II, and was beheaded for his deeds on the 14th of February.'

I suppose if it was this guy then he was canonised for sticking up for love and sticking it to the Romans.

alot of American and Candian Holidays are about or named after a Saint.. Christmas... Saint Nick, Valentines, Saint Valentine.... there's really more then that.. but ya doesn't it seem weird how Saints of god all got in trouble.. anyways...

i like Valentines when i have someone to share it will.. but ya as if thats going to happen this year... My god last year i had a if and didn;t even share it with him..

in order to boost the military Claudius outlawed marrige, thinking that that was why men didn't serve there whole life. He didn't realize that men fought for their women...idiot. But yes he was canonized for upholding God's law in the face of danger. I think he was killed.
