...yeah...except your grandpa doesn't seem to realize that small children DO put things in their mouths that they shouldn't. So it IS a very serious health risk. One that your grandfather is downplaying. It's MUCH more serious a risk than he's making it out to be. Anyone who's been around a small child for a few hours would be able to tell you that. Why don't you actually do some research on it yourself, instead of just blindly following whatever your dear grandfather tells you.

Yeah and not only that, the fact that oygen affects lead just the way moisture and air cause rust to happen on a steal bicycle. It's always corroding, it just takes a long, long time. Which means it's always breaking down into finer particles that most aren't aware of.
Kids don't have to eat the paint to be unsafe. Even sores like wee scrapes or cuts can get infected the same way being stabbed with a pencil causes lead poisoning. The mouth isn't the only entry to the human body.

first of all...there are more ways for the lead in the paint to get into your bloodstream than simply ingesting it. i mean, even a chip of the paint getting underneath your fingernail could get it there. lead paint has been an issue for a while, and its pretty damn serious if its caused cancer.
