I can understand the criticism in that. However, I still don't believe that the book is badly written. There's never 'nothing for the characters to do' in a book, if that's the case the writer thinks of something. I just think, looking at Hunter's lifestyle, he was trying to get some of the craziness and utter self-delusion across in a humerous way. Everyone has a different sense of humour, which is why people either seem to love the book or hate it.

^^ Good point.

I read the book before I even knew a movie existed...but I read a lot of Hunter's work before I even read Fear and Loathing...I like him as an author..more then I like Stephen King..I am book nerd..I dont do a lot of "cool" books..I do a lot of classic...The Great Gatsby, The Pearl, To Kill a Mockingbird..etc. But I like Hunter's work and like this book..the movie was great..Johnny Depp is amazing..mmm...mmm..Johnny...

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
I found out only yesterday that this person was a woman.
For years I assumed the author was a man.

It was her only novel...ever.
