My friend is under a lot of stress right now and it's kinda putting wear and tear on this whole friendship of ours.
Should I avoid him until he gets over the stress or try to help him through it

He makes it so hard. We got into a yelling contest twice today in front of a substantial number of people. And he seems to take pleasure in making me squirm in my sight.
I've tried being nice, fair, and nothing's really worked except yelling. I almost threw a water bottle at him today
