Our government also spent €150 million planning a metro system for Dublin and now it's not going to go ahead apparently. Why do governments waste so much money when they could be spending it on hospitals and schools?

We were supposed to have the most advanced, safest tunnel in Europe.
Care to guess what caused problems? Exactly, the safety system. If a truck came too close to the sensors that measured it's height, the entire tunnel would shut down. It took years to actually finish the tunnel. After a while it became common for everyone to check if 'the tunnel is open today'. Strangest thing. Anyway, they turned it into a regular tunnel now. Stupid thing.

I cannot see any reason for closing the whole thing down if there was a minor risk of there being a possibility of an accident. My old dad would probably blame the EU in Brussels for that particular piece of nonsense.

You can take pride in the fact that you have made mistakes, and are therefore human. We can take pride in the fact that we now have running water in most houses and in a few places, electricity!!!

In nearby Lancashire, we've got a man asserting power of "Lord of the Manor" over a village, being backed by the law, for a lordship he bought for £1.
