I'm fairly sure extreme metal is just an umbrella term for grindcore, goregrind, death metal, black metal, etc

Really it is any type of metal that has harsh vocals. Doom Metal is not influenced by Hardcore punk nor thrash yet it is extreme metal.

And anyone who blames music for killings should be kicked off of the face of the planet. If anything it is the human mind interpreting the LYRICS (not music) in a way, which can influence somebody to kill somebody. You want to blame something for a killing. Blame the killer who actually killed the person. It annoys me these days how crimes are let go because of mental illness.
