I don't think it's the only one. Like I said, if more liberals know about his over the top sexism he probably wouldn't be as popular. I think it's just because he bashes religion a lot and I admit, even I can't resist some of that.
I know he doesn't consider himself pro bush or anything, no Republican dares to associate himself with a guy like Hitchens, like any pundit worth his salt he knows how to present himself as an independent thinker, and admittingly he's less of a bandwagoner than most.

Seriously, I watched him give interviews about it and he failed to come across with what you're describing, to me he just comes off as a sexist douchebag. If he actually wanted to make a reasonable article about how people pressure men to be funny and not women, which is a reasonable argument a liberal could make, then for the love of god don't call it "why women aren't funny" and then clearly say something as retarded as "women are only funny when they imitate men" or whatever, to call that a mixed message is a severe understatement.
If this is how today's "intellectuals" have to make a point, by clearly trolling the sh*t out of people they disagree with, then it's no wonder the older generation looks down upon us.
