Default Could we please make fur fashionable again?

Few people under forty own a fur coat now.

Furriers in New York, Chicago, Toronto and Montreal don't sell many new fur coats anymore; their business now specializes in storage, maintaining and preserving expensive old coats.

And yet, the fur bearing animals of the continent are still there - they are not endangered or even threatened. In fact there too dam many beavers. Furs are a renewable resource that we are wasting.

The Native Americans who specialize in trapping the animals (humanely) find the prices so incredibly low, they would rather stay at home. They have lost a way of life because trapping was one of the last bastions of their traditional existence.

And its all because of the ANTI FUR GROUPS who have no idea the damage they have done to Natives and honest trappers the continent - or even to the animals themselves who are overcrowded in diminishing forest habitats and wetland reserves.

MY IDEA? Well, now that you ask, I think someone should organize a pro FUR group and raise funds for a TV CAMPAIGN to educate folks on the socio-economic merits of wearing fur.

What do you know about it?

Ever heard the expression: all fur coat and no knickers? Very apt at this time I think.

what a wonderfully inaccurate stereotype in that first paragraph

what a load of ignorant idiocy in your second one.

Despite all the usual arguments against fur coats, i think they just look stupid.

If you feel the need to kill an animal to look good you should have a large object dropped on your head.

Killing an animal for food is one thing, but fashion? Those poor innocent beavers

...yes it was?

He said that he wanted to make fur fashionable, and I stated my opinion on why I think it shouldn't be.

Read what he said, its really nothing to do with the fashion, its to do with fur selling so trappers are in money.
