CNN.com - Senate panel approves 'NOPEC' legislation - September 21, 2000

This gives the rundown of perhaps the stupidest bill i've ever seen pass in recent years.

Scenario: NOPEC bill goes into action and the US tries OPEC. The US courts rule in favour of the bill and find OPEC guilty of fixing oil prices. The US then seizes assets from Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Venezuela, and other major members of OPEC. Said members get a bit pissed off, and guess what, all that oil being shipped to the US is now being re-routed to china. Brilliant.
