Respect (genre, bands)

ok, maybe another pointless thread....but why don't we respect other people's opinions & tastes?

maybe internet is like our weapon, we come here and talk about what bothers us, maybe it's a waste of time (like my parents say) but anyways, it is our choice. the thing is, WHY DON'T WE RESPECT EACH OTHER?
you can answer this question or just say your opinion on why do we love internet so much.
and it is true, we are free to say what we think but we should just keep it nice...

Ok I was going to answer this even though it comes up in every thread anyway... But I couldnt think of a better way to say it apart from 'People are people.' So there you go. Its just how people are with one another, and probably always will be.

Most opinions are respected if they are backed by a true fact...for instance the 20 or so kids that come on here and just say "I hate bush" "Bush is an idiot" or "bush kills the innocent". Those are all opinions, with no backing.

^ Nicely done. Lately, it's become a fad to say things like that, with no knowledge whatsoever of domestic or international politics.
In terms of music, I have no problem with people arguing about a specific band. It's human nature to stick with your guns, and vocally support bands that you listen to. But when people make radical claims about an entire genre they know little about, that gets no respect from me.
