Default A severe, and serious problem

I've been on this site for, I don't know...5 years or so now. In that time I've fallen in and out of favor and I can accept that. But there comes a time where a man must stand up for what he believes in. Where he looks at himself in the mirror, clean shaven and sober and says "I will not stand for this." 5 long years musicbanter. 5 long years i've fought off your trolls, battled your intellectuals, attempted to tutor your newbs, and pissed off the regulars.

And every year I've at the very least show up and seen a PM, but more often than not, a thread. And now my 27th birthday comes and goes and I come home to log on to celebrate my my eFriends I've known and loved for years and what am I met with? I'll tell you what I'm met with...

You're 27? You barley look a day over 22!

Seriously though I thought you were way younger than that, must be that damn healthy lifestyle thing you've got going on, that and a steady dose of clam chowder. I've made sure to mark my iCal for November 23rd, 2010 to remind me of your date of birth. I really hope you had a good time in D.C. over the weekend and I hope you have a smashing birthday.

The 22nd but who's counting?

And yes I'm 27. As the sagely Lewis Black once said "you've got to know your body" and to paraphrase "and if thats thunderbird wine and bacon fried in fatback, so be it."

I'll be honest though, the ocean keeps me young. And I'll be expecting the Manch strip show before christmas.

I don't know why that card is making me laugh so much, i really don't. It's 7:30am and i've only just started to sip at my coffee so that stupid little teddy bear really should not be providing the laughter this much, or on the other hand maybe thats exactly why.

Anyway, happy late birthday mate.

It's terrible. I've developed such a knack for censoring myself lately.

I don't really know you all that well on here but... happy late birthday anyway! What'd you do in DC this weekend? I'm not all that fond of the place, except for the fact that pretty much every band that comes to the east coast rolls through.

Saw ever Memorial that I could. The new WWII mem. is phenomenal.

Went to some brewing company and the bartender was also named Brennan, so he gave me a free Octoberfest. win!

I went to the Newseum which has more cool **** than I could have imagined. Had the radio tower from the World Trade Center, a monster slab of the Berlin Wall, (which was torn down when I was 7) and a really nice piece on the first amendment.

FDR's memorial was fairly cool, and of course I went down to the congress and the White House.

I'm kind of a political junkie so this place is exactly my thing. Also, I hunted congressional members the whole trip and didn't find one. But I was putting my shoes back on in the airport and Alan Grayson (congressmanwithguts.com) walked by me (notoriously vicious liberal from somewhere in Florida) and I went down to take a photo with him but he literally ran to make his flight which I checked to make sure it was him. Sure enough it went to Orlando.

All in all I had a hell of a time.

That does sound fun though, the new WWII memorial is neet. Also, the Newseum is probably the best museum I've been too, I just went there for the first time a few months ago. The 1st Amendment exhibit was fantastic, it was interesting to see how censored other places can be. I had no idea about some of the places on that map they had.

I guess the problem with living around here is, every time family comes to visit we go and see all the memorials, which are interesting, but I've gotten bored with them now that I've seen most of them a hundred times. And anyone in politics seems impossible to find... I've rarely ever seen any of them that I would know down there (but in fairness I may have seen some and just not recognized them). I've never been too interested in the faces of politics.

I come from a History laden place as well. I think its hard to keep in mind the people in the midwest come from little to no national significance day to day.
