You must have known some very cruel cats in your life time. I agree, dogs are lovely, and they definitely make you feel far mre appreciated than cats do. But thats why some people are cat people and others are dog people, affecectionte people prefer dogs most of the time.

Not needy, if you're giving a home for someone or something, not to mention feeding them. You expect them to show gratitude, whether it's human or an animal. Cats take the piss. I don't get crazy cat ladies.. why do they go for cats if they lack love?

Cats are generally very affectionate to the people they live with though, but with the added bonus of not being in your face every five seconds like a dog. |

Not needy, if a cat was a human I'd think they were a massive twat. Not coming over to say hello. Dogs on the other hand, if they were human they'd come up to you and shake your hand, and probably lick you. But still.

I adopt all my pets from shelters, and from personal experience a lot of cats in shelters don't have as good nature as the dogs there. Plus there is always loads more dogs in shelters, I guess because when cats get abandoned or lost they turn feral and make it on their own. If you're talking about buying a cat from a breeder or petshop I guess it may be different. But I'm a shelter person (breeders and pet shops are BAD BAD BAD) and the dogs are always gorgeous.

And stick their nose in your crotch. And slobber all over you. And jump up on you. And make a ton of noise. Dealing with the animal equivalent of Lenny from Of Mice and Men is really not what I'm in the mood for when I come home after working all day. The friendly, low-key demeanor of a cat is much more my cup of tea. |

Yeah, although I'm a dog person I do love cats as well. I'm just more inclined to get dogs. I should give cats more of a chance! I love animals that have their own wacky personalities.
