Default Meditation

Anybody here meditate? I decided to start a class which started this morning. What do you think of it and is it beneficial?

Just judging from today I feel like I will really like this. It was calming and relaxing and seems like it could provide some inner peace.

I don't think I could sit still long enough for it to count. My ass would go numb and I'd get bored.

I don't know how to meditate, but I love the droning effect... monks use this chant during meditation.

I don't even think about it in terms of time. The way I go about it is to count to 10 in my head - a new number every time I breathe in or out - and just keep repeating that process 'til I feel like stopping. It's definitely a great way to relax and just calm everything down, but it only ever works for me if I can do it someplace quiet. Seeing as I live next to a main road not to mention practically next door to a pub, so it's the time I can dedicate to it's much more scarce as of this last few years. It's a shame, because it's a kinda cool thing to do.

I've been meditating daily for about 3 weeks now and It's been very helpful.

I started out a little overzealous with two 30 min. sessions a day and later found that this was causing me to 'clear' more toxic energy than I was able to deal with at the time. I've since dialed it down to one 15 minute session in the morning and sometimes an additional brief stint in the evening. That seems to be working pretty well.

I agree with Savannah. If you're new to it, start out slow and try to have minimal expectations of what should be happening, or whether or not you are doing it right. Aside from maintaining a gentle focus on your breath, mantra, or whatever your focal point may be, just 'show up' and allow the process to unfold in its own way.

I'd like to more often, it would connect me with the earth more. It's easy to become disengaged with what is going on around you.

I find a decent ambient album, ten minutes and a comfy sofa does the job.

If you want to be relaxed then I think it's relatively easy to attain even if it is for a very short time.

I have been trying the last few days with not much progress. I end up falling asleep or my mind actually just goes 2x as crazy. And suggestions?

I practice meditation every day. It's very calming when life puts the pedal to the metal. I've been doing it so long it just comes naturally, I used to have a more 'schedule' type routine, but these days it just happens. I've even had a few crazy experiences while meditating.

I find it easy since I'm a calm person, if I want to, I can just sit here for an hour, and the rest of the day will seem a lot more relaxed.
