It wasn't hardcore insomnia, I just wasn't at all tired until the wee hours of the morning, and since I had to be up at 6 am I had to make a judgement call as to whether I was going to try for a few hours shuteye.

Well it probably helped that the statie was asleep in his car. He was there having a nap, because he was still there when I came back through and I stopped to have a look. So yes, in this case, you could have. Had he of pulled me over I would have gotten in trouble, sure. And what's wreck less about it? It was down a stretch of two mile straight shot road, with zero traffic, with someone who is trained to handle a car at high speeds.

So if Jeff Gordon gets pulled over for doing 120 on a straight road, he should be let go? No. You're a cop. It's your job to uphold the law, so you should follow it.

Correction: it's my job to enforce military law. But on the flip side of the coin, I fly in my truck too. If I get pulled over, great, I'll pay the ticket. If I got pulled over in my cruiser, I would have faced the consequences of that, too. To be fair, I don't overtly care about people speeding, and have never actually given a speeding ticket. Warning, yes, but actual ticket, no.
