3 Doors Down - Here Without You - Lyrics Meaning

Here Without You by 3 Doors Down is a song written about spending too much time away from a loved one. This song is from their 2002 album, Away from the Sun. Brad Arnold, the lead vocalist and drummer for the band has stated that this song was written about their lonely nights spent on the road promoting their band and how tough it was to be away from their significant others.

Here Without You gives the listener a look into the mind of a man that is missing his girlfriend. The time spent while traveling seems to stretch into oblivion, and it only seems as if he is getting farther away from his loved one. His dreams are the only connection that he has to her, and they fade away the hours and distance that separates them. In his dreams, he is able to block out the "days" and the "miles" that keep them apart, and he is able to actively envision her face when he finally steals some time to himself.

When listening to this song, it is easy to put your own life into the lyrics. Those that are in a similar situation and dealing with a long distance relationship can relate. Others who have lost their loved ones because of a death or break-up can also associate the lyrics to their situation.
