John Lennon - Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) - Lyrics Meaning

Beautiful Boy by John Lennon was released in 1980

John Lennon wrote this song for son, Sean, who he had with Yoko Ono.

The song describes his love for Sean and it really shines through in the lyrics of this song.

He is telling his son that he loves him and not to worry as his father is here with him so he can go to sleep safely.

There is a line in the song, "Every day and in every way I am getting better and better" This is a self-improvement mantra which was popularized by the French psychologist named Emile Coue which people are made to repeat to themselves with the aim of doing what is says.

It is thought that this line was also directed at Paul McCartney who always said to Lennon that things were really good and now with the birth of his son he was finally beginning to believe it himself.

Another line in the song says "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." which basically mean 'Don't wait for the right time to follow your dreams, follow them now'
