And I don't really see how "Melville isn't for those who don't like reading" is a valid criticism. You can say that about virtually any book.

Just got Stefan Sagmeister's Things I have learned in my Life so far in the mail. Not a novel, but still interesting. I'd recommend it to anyone here interested in graphic design.

I was a a bit wary myself because I'd heard the same but it's just one of those books that I felt I had to read eventually.

So far so good, I'm 150 pages in and it's been a very engaging read. I got used to the archaic language very soon (it's not exactly 15th century English). I'll report back once I've finished...

Also, I just ordered a bunch of dirt cheap books from the American Amazon! I lovez the dollar being so low...

Well of course, it's kind of like saying Radiohead isn't for people who don't like music, it's not something you start with. You have to like a bit reading before you dive into Melville.
