Recommend movies to each other (music video, alternative, albums, fan)

I just watched Juno (I didn't pick it my friends did) and it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought. Besides the rather stereotypical "punk" chick it was pretty funny, and well done.

Also, has anyone seen the old movie adaption of 1984? I read the book and loved it and was wondering if its worth watching.

I just saw the Kingdom and I recommend it

I was really dissapointed in Eastern Promises though, it just seems to drag along and I couldn't care about the characters, History of Violence was much better IMO

I recommend The Invisible. I thought it wouldn't be that great but I actually really enjoyed it. I also recommend Saw 4

Ace in The Hole, starring Kirk Douglas, is quite good.

Delicatessen -- from that director of City of Lost Children and Amelie... it's a surrealist dark comedy in a post-apocalyptic tenent building where some very Sweeny-Todd esque things are going on. Pretty great.

Cronenberg's The Brood was really good as well, I'd put it in his top 3.

I recommend we move this thread, and I also recommend The Player with Tim Robbins, and also The Usual Suspects, although i would usually suspect most have seen that. Then again, it came out the same year some of you were born. An awesome movie.

If i recall correctly, there have been a few film adoptions of orwell's 1984. I haven't seen either. but i heard there is talk of a new adoption of the novel..

anyway, if you loved 1984, i would definately have to recommend Brazil. Its directed by Terry Gilliam. Its a fantastic movie, truly one of my favorites.. but depending on how big of a town you live in it might be hard to find in stores (altho i do live in quite a small town so maybe bigger cities would have it). I would also recommend almost any of his work. Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas is wonderfully crazy, and 12 Monkeys is a great science fiction movie. Infact the only movie of his i dont really like much is The Fisher King.. its not that its bad, its just a little too normal compared to most of his work.

So yeah I guess that's about it. I figured I'd try and help you out (even though i guess i really didn't since i have never seen a film adoption of 1984), but again, id really recommend Brazil.

I love movies.. Maybe more than music lol. I spend too much of my money on movies.. they are so darned expensive

I strongly recommend This Boy's Life

It's Robert De Niro and Leonardo Dicaprio at their best.
Ellen Barkin plays a divorced single mom, who travels around the country with teen son (Leo) in search of a good town and a good husband. Robert De Niro plays All American divorced father of 3.
De Niro's character has the perfect combination of charm and gentlemanness. His character shows hints here and there that he's not the great gentleman that he seems, and by the end of the movie, he proves to be a full blown psychotic.
A very heartfelt story with believable characters, and a few belly-laughs, whether they're intended or not.
