I just saw Ouija. That was fantastic and a really fun ride, definitely Mike Flanagan's best work so far (so glad that he's living up to the potential shown in Oculus and Hush). 9/10

Spoiler for I thought it was kind of funny that:
When the priest does the reveal of how the spirits work, they are cold readers in some ways, like the characters.

Arrival
holy tapdancing Jesus on a stick, that's some good sf. The kind where no one gets punched, no one gets eaten, no helicopters blow up etc. Where people act like people and aliens are .. well, really alien.
Also, as someone who dabbled in linguistics a bit, the whole process (and coming up with an idea of a process in the first place) of establishing communication was simply fascinating.
After the movie was done I really had to fight myself not to stand up and simply start clapping.
