Ramones : End Of The century.
Well put together doc of the seminal band. Recommended for all fans. Starter For 10. An underpraised exceptionally played British gem. It follows a guy from a working class background, whose dream is to appear on University Challenge, and attend university. Does'nt sound like much, but it's seet, tender and funny without all the sentimental schmaltz that usually comes with American films (Cameron Crowe excluded). It features a cracking 80's soundtrack-The Cure etc. Wedding Belles. A made for T.V 2 hour drama from co writer Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting). It concerns four women exacting revenge on the various men who have done them wrong. It is very funny, foul mouthed ( in authentic Scottish patter-even I struggled to understand some words!), violent, sex fuelled anarchic quality! |

One of the women was crying after dropping a bombshell (something about being raped) and all the while I was transfixed by the long dribble of snot dangling from her nose. Earthy stuff.

Four Brothers.
This one opens brilliantly, great wintry Detroit location shooting, great soul music soundtrack, and a great opening, alas; it soon dissapeared in a quagmire of cliches and some dodgy acting. Damn shame. I was really hoping for an old school revenge movie. |
