So Stephen Dorff needs protection in prison, and joins a skinhead gang, somewhat against his will, and much to his fiancee's dismay. So his life on the outside starts to fall apart as he's kicking ass in prison, taking **** off the guards, etc. Finally the inmates stage a protest, when one of the prick guards asks Dorff to kill a black inmate (the guard is also black, ironically) in the yard. No spoilers now, watch it, no dissapointments. Greaaaaaaaaaat ****inng film.
With the whole plot given away, I don't need to watch it now then.......

It's got Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer in it, I'm guessing you're not missing much...

Val Kilmer CAN be good when he is not too busy being an arse: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Salton Sea etc.

Anyhow latest watch:

The unbelievably true story is more of a reason to watch this film. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but it could have been so much better. I do like Statham though. Just an ordinary geezer off the street and always watchable.

Salton Sea may be my one of my favorite movies ever. Definitely Kilmer at his finest.

Didn't he used to be a professional diver? I find him offensively wooden. Allow his Guy Richie films though, and maybe the Transporter - still unacknowledged as a slapstick comedy classic.

Yes. I am behind everyone else by six months. Glad I am really because this was disappointing. A camera that seems impervious to whatever you throw at it when in reality if you fart your cam glitches. A character manages to keep her high heels on through half the film's running time despite the fact that Manhattan resembles a war zone. The guy holding the camera is an annoying twat. Despite it's real time scenario, the cameraman seems to be editing the footage on the fly as we have cuts that should not even exist. Lastly: notice to cameraman. DROP THE FUCKING THING. You can run quicker without it.

To be fair, the F/X were well done and the concept is a good one-just poorly executed.

You should have seen it at the cinema...

Oh, and I don't think it's supposed to be real time...I'm not sure what cuts you're referring to *unsure*

That's why you are unsure of the cuts. They are subtle but noticeable all the time. If the film wants to based in reality then you cannot pick a time when to turn your camera off and then on again. An example is when they enter the underground. There is a huge cut when they decide to walk upon the lines and then BAM they are on the lines. The camera should always be constant but if you watch it, there are so many cuts.

The real time was more in line with sustained times of attack. It is roughy set over a twelve hour period but certain set peices should be in real time because he is documenting it, yet he makes a few cuts here and there.
