I for one loved this movie. I thought Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart both did a fabulous job. Christian Bale did a great job too...it seems like one of the reason people are criticizing his performance is because he was overshadowed by Heath Ledger (for whatever reason, be it his actual acting ability, or the fact that he died before the movie was released).

The "raspy voice" thing was necessary and part of the story, to keep his identity secret, right? I didn't find it distracting at all.

Yeah it was necessary but the way it was executed in this film was more cheesy then previous attempts. Also, made it hard to understand at certain points in the film.

Did he do that in the first movie? I don't remember him doing that...just wondering.

I will agree with the cheese-factor. When I first heard him talk like that, I giggled a little. But then I just ignored it.

I definitely need to see it on the big screen. The bootleg version on the comp sucked which made his voice even more annoying and hard to understand.

I never saw the first one. I ignored it as well but the fact I realized it and had to ignore it bugged me. I'm a movie snob... I don't want to have to use my mental abilities for anything other then enjoying the film, don't make me have to filter out what the director should have done for me. Ok, I'm done.

Boy, they really dragged this **** out.

I think there wasn't anything really spectacular about this movie. It went in directions that the first movie never touched upon, but it ended up taking the awesome atmosphere that the first movie generated and chucking it out the window, and instead made the movie depressing and annoying. The storyline was pretty far-fetched, and it seemed like the directors had all sorts of great ideas for the movie, but couldn't face the facts that they could only use some of them, so they crammed them all in. The boat situations also added to the depressing atmosphere. Please, if any movie is going to have those kinds of situations, it's going to be Saw.

It's based off of a comic book... far-fetched story lines shouldn't be a big surprise.
