Just wanted to brag, really. I've been a graphic novel/comicbook fan for years, but .. well, not a very active one lately. And just the other day, I got a weird package in the mail, from a friend I haven't seen in years. Turns out he works now printing comics, among other things. Here's what was inside:

I finally got to reading Milers Dark Knight and Moore's Killer Joke and I have to say, I enjoyed them a lot, which is surprising since .. well, I don't really like all those new batman movies Somehow made me think I don't like Batman, luckily that's not the case
Apart from that I only just finished the 2 issues of "the Bunker" (5 part series) and will have to get the other issues too, as it's .. well, it's unique. The story is set in an alternative, post apocalyptic world, very similar to ours in many respects, but at the same time completely different (as in, countries, cultures etc). There is a very strong "Lovecraftian" feel here, I don't really know just yet what it's about as the story takes a while to develop, but so far it's fascinating.

Yeah, I still need to read The Killing Joke but I did just wanted the animated version of it. I now understand why it's held in such high acclaim. If you liked The Killing Joke, I think you should try reading The Dark Knight Returns if you haven't already. It's a four issue mini-series release.

It's there in the photo, next to killer joke a hardcover edition, all 4 issues in one book. The story is great, graphically it's not as amazing but generally I enjoyed it a lot, more than the Killer Joke by a mile.

lawl, I didn't even notice it was right there. Yeah, I love the philosophy behind the Killing Joke.

The belief in justice, they are both sides of the same coin but Batman chooses to believe in justice after tragedy while The Joker looses all faith in it and becomes a product of madness.

Well you know the story, kind of preaching to the choir but yeah I love that. I haven't read Dark Knight Returns but I need to soon.

Maybe I read it wrong, but at the end there is a moment when, just for a moment, Joker realizes he might not be right here. That this whole insanity is just an excuse. Only for a moment.
Also I have to appreciate how mature the story is, as in pg18 mature. It's not surprising as it's Alan Moore we're talking about here, but still it's refreshing.

The Batlord

Getting back to comics after a bit of an absence and god damn was the new Vision series good. Now finally catching up with Thor after reading only the first two issues with female Thor, and Jason Aaron was meant to write that series. First Thor: God of Thunder, one of my absolute fav recent series, and now he's doing it again under what I assume was an editorial mandate. The real Odinson.
