What TV shows are people watching?

I found out that my parents have Amazon Prime so I've been watching The Sopranos for the first time. Great stuff.

Coincidentally, I just started watching this too after hearing so much about it from others. I'm about halfway into season 1 atm and am also very much enjoying the show's feel, which I expected to tbh.

I'm at the same point as well. I had a good feeling going into it straight from the intro and the soundtrack. Great stuff.

What I find fascinating about The Wire is that it's a cop show where during the whole 5 seasons a cop fired his gun .. once. And it was an accident (don't want to spoil anything). It's not your regular shootout, stupid high speed chase, handsome cop defeats handsome villain type of tv series, it.. it has a soul.

Been watching Dexter, and I'm up to season 6. Even with the premise you have to suspend your disbelief, so if you're not too bothered by the idea of a sociopath so down the road that he's obsessively killing people slowly becoming human, then some of the OTT plot lines aren't too hard to swallow. Still, certain things, like his relationship with Lumen in season 5, require a bit more belief suspension than others. Luckily, I can suspend a whole lot of disbelief, so I am thoroughly addicted. I don't know that they'll be able to top season 2, but the quality has remained pretty steady throughout.

And please, nobody tell me that such and such season that I haven't already watched is when everything goes downhill. I don't want to have preconceived notions going in.

Season four is definitely the best. The Trinity killer and Dexter's relationship with him and his family is so ****ing twisted.

Agreed. I've heard it said by none other than Joss Whedon that comedic actors are often great at more serious drama; that if they can get down comic timing, that dramatic timing is even easier. I don't know how true that is, but considering some of the performances by Robin Williams (What Dreams May Come is totally underrated, and that movie where he plays a serial killer opposite Al Pacino was pretty great, largely because of his performance) I'm willing to admit that there may be truth to the idea.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has certainly proven himself, and John Lithgow was has so far been hands down the best villain of the series so far. Overall, I can agree that the fourth season may have been the strongest...

I actually find this show hilarious. I'm happy that I found it on Netflix because I always used to watch the random episodes that we're on TV. It's a good casual show to watch when you really don't feel like doing anything. But yes, it is funny. Even though a lot of people don't find it funny.
