The pacing is a bit slow, so if you can't hanlde that, I wouldn't recommend that you see this film.
I would also recommend this movie. A girl I was dating at the time dragged me to go see Twilight much to my objection, however I bit the bullet and saw that god awful ****fest. Then a week later my buddy who works in movies told me about this one and I saw that it was playing at the Vancouver International Movie Theater so I took my girlfriend to it and she apologized profusely for making me sit through Twilight after watching Let the Right One In. The actors portray love in such a realistic manner without using cliched high school stereotypes and big named actors to appeal to teenyboppers. The best part was that it was the first movie for the actress that played Eli and the actor that played Oskar.

It's a period drama, a monster movie and a martial arts movie. It looks gorgeous and has Monica Bellucci too Very very good movie.

I saw that in the theater. It starts off really impressive but the last third or so was kinda ridiculous...I thought...at the time..........:\

There should be an unwritten rule that we shouldn't critique the other's choices as we are so far apart on film The extended directors version adds well over 30 minutes and gives much better flow to the film.

Word.

Anyhoo, if there's a proper movie fan in tha house, they should definitely check out these two gems from the Taviani brothers, which rank amongst my favorite Italian films ever:

Not entirely sure you'll get the whole Mediterranean mythos and ethos though (sounded clever didn't it? *smug*). Worth a shot in any case...(:

Proper? hmmm. I'm not going to mention those films as I haven't seen them but are you into the Neo-Realist Italian films? Rome, Open City is phenomenal.

After a read of this thread i watched Withnail and I last night which was great, i'm thinking with repeated watches the stoner could become one of my favourite film characters. It was pretty impressive considering it was just the 2 main characters for most of it.

I have Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas lined up tonight, the only experience i've had of it is they played it on a projector in a night club i was in once. Looks good!

@Lee: Haven't gotten around to that one yet, no. I'll make a mental note, thanks...(:

You have only just seen Withnail & I? OMG. A favourite forever. Richard E Grant is the best screen drunk ever and he is allergic to alcohol lol

I'm one of the very few people that was underwhelmed by it...
