Podcasts

Anybody listen to them and if so what are your favorites?

In all seriousness: What actually is the idea of a podcast?
It baffles me in the same way twitter still baffles me.
I sort of know how it works, but I don't really feel it, you feel? :D

podcasts and video blogs are for entertainment and/or information about things you're interested in. it could be music or it could be something more specific to so many different fields.

check these out to clarify.

there's a new one my friend showed me recently where this hottie gives interesting (and alluring) explanations to the etymology of certain words called HOT FOR WORDS

or check out this video blog i found where this guy explains making awesome music from iphone apps on youtube - judonomi apps

hope that clears things up

I'm a big fan of the BBC's History of the World in 100 Objects. It's over now but there are 100 15 minute long episodes to listen to that cover the history of civilization, in chronological order, by discussing objects in the collection of the British Museum. If you like history it's really worth checking out.

that's the only one I really keep up with, I have a podcast subscription to X-play and AOTS as well but Hot for Words is the main one I keep up with.

I really dislike the audio only ones because they are so long.

I prefer my podcasts to be short and sweet.

In my experience they vary in length a lot. As I mentioned above my favorite podcast is only about 15 minutes in length per episode. Another one that's good and similarly short is the Useless Information Podcast.

Okay, I guess my complaint was based off of the one and only audio that I subscribed to which is a WoW-related one and it varied from 40-50 mins.

I listen to 2 podcasts - Stuff You Should Know and Stuff Mom Never Told You (although this one mostly focuses on women's issues). They're both entertaining and you learn something new from them.

I like Stuff Mom Never Told you as well. They aren't the best presenters in the world but they usually have some interesting little facts to share.
