Popularity can ruin games. Not saying it always does but any game with active updates has potential to be ruined when the company starts catering to popular demand instead of staying true to the vision of their product. Mass appeal =/= quality imo, and now that I'm thinking about it, it pretty much parallels the music industry.

Anyway, I thought this game was popular because of the ties it has to a real life event.

I doubt anyone bought it thinking "oh boy, finally after all these years I get to play a video game that draws parallels to the Nathan Dunlap murders of 1993".

The game is perfect YouTube fodder and many popular YouTube personalities played it, then their fan base went out and bought it. It's 2014's Slenderman.

Oh god, everyone in my sub box was doing a video on it.

I will admit that the gameplay and style are pretty good. I got enjoyment out of it at least.
