boyhood is overrated because the story isn't anything special and aside from a boy growing up there isn't all that much in terms of an actual story. the fact that it was done before is just to show that it isn't some amazing first time cinematic feat.

As an actual film it still holds it's own regardless of the fact that it took 12 years. I get it that you don't like it but it's far from overrated.

nah it's definitely overrated. it couldn't sniff birdman or whiplash. maybe the other films sure, but I didn't really love any of those so I mean it is what it is.
