Default Gelid's Musical Wanderings

This is going to be interesting. I am always discovering new music (new to me, that is...) and listen to a wwwiiidddeee variety of styles. I tend to like women singers more than men for some reason.

I hope I can enlighten a person or two about exactly what is out there waiting to be discovered or re-discovered.

Happy reading!

Default Porcupine Tree

I just bought Stupid Dream by Porcupine Tree.

Excellent release. On par with In Absentia and Deadwing.

I really like "Even Less". Lyrically and musically, it's just great. The opening riff is very cool!

Default Folk Music

I was on a Youtube safari today and came across something really cool: Buffy Sainte-Marie and Pete Seeger on TV from what must have been the early 60's, playing what sounds like an old folk song "Cindy".

Very cool to see these folkies performing together, back in their element!

Thats a great album. But if you really like PT then i suggest trying these two, Voyage 34, and Fear of a Blanket. Voyage 34 is very different than there typical music but is good all the same.

It's Fear of a Blank Planet fella. I also suggest In Absentia and Deadwing too for PT.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, but I have them already. The only full studio album by PT that I don't have is Lightbulb Sun.

A member of a Tori Amos forum I belong to had posted about Thea Gilmore, an English singer/songwriter who's been around since the late 90's. Ever hear of her?

Her last release was Harpo's Ghost, which I just got and love! A new album titled Liejacker is slated for release May 19, 2008. Can't wait!

I've also recently discovered Sia, singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. Haven't heard much of her studio stuff, but I do have a live album recorded in 2006 and released about a year ago. Very talented singer. Incredible live.
