1. Melt Banana - Spathic!

I absolutely loved this. OTT guitar Electronica.

2. Liliput - Night Toad

Didn't dig this. The vocals are OK but the jangly guitar annoyed me.

3. Teenage Jesus & The Jerks - I Woke Up Dreaming

I thought it reminded me of early Siouxsie, which is no bad thing.

4. Yoko Ono - Don't Worry, Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking for Her Hand in the Snow)

I love the guitar riff but her vocals are far too high in the mix and ended up annoying me.

5. Throwing Muses - America

This is in AAC so it did'nt play in WMP. I did'nt listen to it in RP either-sorry!

6. PJ Harvey - Man-Size Sextet

I have never followed her career even though i was enamoured with her debut Rid Of Me, which is definitely an oversight on my part. Vocally i have always liked what she does but the orchestration really grated on me.

7. Bjork - Human Behaviour

Great song from her self titled debut. I find her music easily digestible. I think Nellee Hoopers production and contribution should not be underestimated though.

8. The Shaggs - Philosophy of the World

This done absolutely nothing for me whatsoever.

9. Nico - It Was a Pleasure Thing

Im unsure about this one. Vocally I was'nt blown away however the music I enjoyed.

10. Joanna Newsom - Cosmia

I thought this was Bjork at first! I adored this I have to say.

I still greatly admire your music tastes though even if this compilation didnt blow me away.

'Psych Banter' - A quick and pointless psychedelia mix lazily accrued from past psych compilations with silly titles.

1. The Beatles - Rain

The classic B-side to Paperback Writer, history in the making. About 60's attitudes to marijuana.

2. Moby Grape - Omaha

Led by Skip Spence who served in Quicksilver Messenger Service and early Jefferson Airplane, classic galloping West Coast psych.

3. Fairport Convention - Time Will Show the Wiser

Yes more galloping West Coast psych, but this time from the Fairport's debut, when they still sounded like, erm, Jefferson Airplane. Richard Thompson was one of the best guitarists of the 60's, FACT.

4. Love - The Castle

From their second album. The title refers to Arthur Lee's Hollywood Hills hideaway. Mouthful.

5. The Nazz - Lemming Song

'Power psych'(?), the Nazz's debut is a lost classic IMO.

6. Tomorrow - Revolution (Top Gear Sesh)

Taken from a session on John Peel's 1968 radio show, this was Steve Howe's band before Yes.

7. the Smoke - High In A Room

Not to be confused with the (pants) U.S. group of the same name, this song is blazing 'toking' it's mental toll (see what I did? hurhur)

8. Ludus - My Cherry Is In Sherry

Manchester 1980, some geniuses decide to combine psych and post-punk influences, the result floors you.

9. Apples In Stereo - Seems So

A nugget from the 90's 'psych revival', kicked off by the fantastic Elephant Six label

10. Luke Vibert - I Love Acid

It's about acid. What more d'you want?

I forgot about this thread. Let me hype some albums I've been listening to lately:

The first track sounds like Thurston Moore jamming to Music for Airports. Delightful minimalism, and not mindnumbingly long like a lot of it is.

post-paranoia: keith fullerton whitman

Has a couple really good songs on there, the guitar playing is almost Polvo-esque. It's the Kinsella brothers... those guys that were in Joan of Arc and Cap'n Jazz.

тυ мυѕιĸ y тυѕ prograмaÑ•™ V.2: abril 2008

Really catchy NZ... music... something kinda punk... after punk... you know. Really good. Just listen to it.

a man can think he's standing still
oh while the road moves through him

Just got this (Brainiac - Hissing Prigs in Static Couture) and boy, it's a doozy. Part noise rock, part garage punk, part electronica and it's all good. Try psychomafia.blogspot.com if you're interested.
