Twilight - Book 1

Personally, if you haven't gotten your hands on Twilight, I saw go and purchase it and read it. It truly is one novel that you wouldn't want to put down once you have started to read it. It's a vampire-love story between a vampire and a human teenage girl. I'm not going to give too much away but it is such an intense book that it shows the true meaning of innocence and love in all it's truest forms. It brings out drama, suspense, it even brings out some intensity through some people.

Anyone who has read this book has said that it is truly one of the better of the book series on the earth that has been read. Stephanie Meyer, the author of the series, is one truly appreciated, and experienced writer. She went to school and got a major in American Literature where she has put her career. She's also written a variety of books besides the vampire love story "trilogy" (reason for quotes, i dont know what a 4-5 book series is called)

The book itself is becoming a movie soon too. To be released in theaters in November.

Now for personal. I read the book because one of my best friends said it was a book that was different than anything. And it was. If you are looking into getting a book that is different than others but STILL remains to be a sappy love story, look into Twilight and the books after.

Stephanie Meyer chose to have this book take place in Forks, which is located at the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. You also see appearances of characters in La Push, and Port Angeles.
People getting hospitalized, suspense with love, hate hate relationships. Look into this book.
It's one i would recommend to anybody.

New Moon - Book 2 (Sequel to 1)

I was a little disappointed with this novel. Mainly because most of the chapters dragged on and on about pointless junk. This book was to bring both Eclipse and Twilight together, but it's possible to link two books without making the link boring. I'm not saying that i completely disliked New Moon, but a lot of it could have and should be worked on a little bit. The issue i think could be easily altered is, there is good work in the chapters, but those "good works" are dragged on about something else and than people will tend to lose track of what's going on in the chapter. Before you know it, you'll be off track of what you were reading.

Honestly, Stephanie Meyer could have put a little bit of more time into New Moon, if she did, there would be more enjoyment and more drama. There isn't even a lot of Love in this one, I mean, she turns Edward Cullen (Main character - Vampire) into this bad guy who is trying to sacrifice himself in some god forsaken place. It's like, okay, well you started off with Edward Cullen being this stud guy, and now he's an enemy. I wouldn't like to be Bella Swan (Other Main Character) in this book. It'd be horrible and i'd get hurt too much.

One thing I thought was really interesting and I give kudos to Stephanie Meyer for doing this is, even though Edward Cullen was away from Bella Swan for some time. Edward Cullen was still able to be in contact with her to keep her from getting into trouble or getting hurt. She had some good points in New Moon, but as i've said several times, it could have been worked on a little more, and it would have been much more enjoyable to read.

Twilight, was like that book where you start it and you have a sensational feeling in your gut that you just don't want to stop reading. Unfortunately for New Moon, that wasn't the case. It took me more than three days to read one chapter, titled "Legends" basically because it had some useless garbage that will have no effect on what goes on in the rest of the book. Some say it's a placeholder for the other books. I say it's just a mess up of something Stephanie Meyer was thinking beyond.

If you haven't known yet, the reason behind the Twilight series and i'm saying this in this review becuase i didn't say it before. It was because of a vision she had, i don't know what kind of vision it was, but wouldn't it be great to be able to see something like that and have the ability to write a whole series of novels based off of what happened?

Back on topic.
Anyway, the reason i would suggest New Moon and a reason i wouldn't suggest New Moon is...
You need to read it to be able to understand what's going on and what people are talking about in Eclipse, and I wouldn't suggest it because it's not a book that you can sit down an entire day and want to read it. I guess you can say you have to be entirely motivated to want to read New Moon, otherwise you won't get through it.

I got through it and what's bad is that i can't remember what happened in that book as much as i can remember what happened in the others.

Here's my review of midnight sun (I read it today)

It reads like fanfic, don't bother.

Here's my review of eclipse

Better than the second one, not as good as the first

Here's my review of Breaking Dawn

****ing insane, bad, got really weird and creepy. A sixteen year old werewolf in love with a baby, I know she explained it, but it's wrong to my core. ****ing Mormons.

Eclipse - Book 3 (Sequel to 2)

Eclipse. Great book, amazing way to write it. Probably better than the first two IMO. I don't understand what really went on in New Moon, most of it was information that was pointless to know until the end. Until I read Eclipse, than it became necessary to know the information to fully understand the book.

A reason for my liking toward it is the relationship (still hot) between Edward and Bella. Ya, some would say, why is it going on for so long? Can't they just get married already? I would say that, that is a fair statement, but its exciting to read through the books hoping something big will happen, but than having to wait until the next book to find what you were trying to read. Sure, maybe Stephanie Meyer could have made Eclipse shorter by taking out some of the pointless nonsense, like in New Moon and Twilight. They all have flaws. Eclipse definately has the least amount of nonsense, and the most intensifying reading. I would definately recommend reading it, instead of you saying "Oh i've read the first two, what more can happen" you'd be surprised.

I wish there was more i could say about Eclipse but memory gets in the way of that, so ill leave my review as it is.

ill give the book a 4 out of 5.

I wrote a review about the book a while ago. The opposite prespective of your respectively.

"I recently have been hearing about this series (mostly from my female friends mind) and was recommended and given it to borrow by a good friend. The book is engaging, but obviously directed to female audiences. The story, for those who haven't read the book, is about a girl named Bella who moves to an eternally cloudy town in Seattle (what I wouldn't kill to live there mind) and falls in love with a "vegetarian" vampire named Edward. It progresses to his and her interaction with his "family" and other vampires that want to kill her. The book is reminiscent of the Harry Potter series in that it blends the typical teenage angst with the supernatural, engaging readers to continue reading. I'm going to admit I couldn't put it down, but the story dragged, especially when Bella constantly bitched about her feelings. I had a curiosity and a fondness for these kinds of novels where there's a secret world behind closed doors and that let me into it.

The characterization is great on Bella, but the rest of them all fell flat, even Edward. He was so predictably emotional and it wore on ones nerves. He was a mesh of overly protective lover and father figure, always in pain that he was in love with Bella and he might hurt her. Don't get me wrong it was cute. To a point. Bella and Edward's conversations were always the same; bickering, followed by cute lovey-dovey exchanges, followed by questioning eachother's lives, followed by bickering, repeat. I guessing I'm missing the undying love (no pun intended) for Bella that Edward has for her, but it seemed too one dimensional to get any real depth out of it. Bella is constantly saying how star struck she is by Edward's beauty. We get it. You wanna **** the **** out of him. Lets move along. The other characters are no better. They seem like statues in a garden that just talk with Bella every so often and Meyer does little to show they have any actual depth (which Edward says they don't really).

The simplicity of language really does make the story flow, sprinkled with some high vocabulary to enrich younger minds, but over all, the story fell flat. As said previously, the lack of depth in any other character besides Bella and her consistent emotional trips limits the audience to girls 14 to 19 (I should pray anyone over that demography doesn't degrade their minds with such easy fiction) and thus caves into stereotypical female novel motifs; over exaggerated feelings, romance, limited violence only to enhance the emotional bond in the romance.

Over all a light read. Nothing revolutionary or thought provoking at all. Certainly not something I would reread or buy, but something light to pass my time when I'm constantly bored. I just don't see why its getting all the hype its getting. "

mmm...A rehash of anne rice's concepts of vampires....do we really need that?
Its aimed at 13yr old girls who think they are deep and are too young and stupid to seek out any book that wasn't published this year.

I agree with FireInCario... I found them painstakingly shallow and flimsy - pretty much just another teen romance series. But they sold well for this reason! And, from an English teacher's perspective, the series is getting many teen girls to get into reading when they wouldn't otherwise - even if it is such a frivolous series.
