I’ve asked Anteater to come on here and comment on Testament’s 2016 release Brotherhood of the Snake. Hopefully, he’ll do us the solid.

My next 2016 review is by a Norwegian artist:

Spoiler for cover art:

Warp by Jon Balke

Post-neoclassical piano music. Like say your rich friend’s dad has a cabin somewhere pretty and you’re outside alone in a hammock trying not to get too ****ed up too early in the day so you can enjoy the trees and **** in a non-obliterated way for a couple hours. This is a good one for that.

The Needle and the Damage Done?

Chubby Wolf is in the 27 Club despite dying 23 days too soon. I found one interview with her lover and bandmate from Celer where he talks about her disease being related to mental disorders. Wiki and other sources list her cause of death as heart failure. My guess is it was heart failure brought on by heroin and likely intentional but I don’t know that for a fact.

When You Wish Upon a Star by Bill Frisell is a sh!tty record. Really sucky daft versions of famous film scores. The vocals by Petra Haden, a triplet daughter of the great Charlie Haden, are especially abhorrent. Positively unforgivably awful music.

Planet Nine by Brian Corbet Burke

Space Ambient New Age

Sounds exactly like you’d expect. In other words, it stays on script for pure awesomeness.

BETWEEN WAVES by The Album Leaf

Conservative beat oriented mostly instrumental ambient pop. Oddly, it reminds me of Alan Parsons, in a good way. Smooth and well produced.
